When you first start to feel the tingly part and is red put ice on it until it melts. Dont try it let it air dry it itself. If the problem still continues and you start to feel a bump take any kind of teabag , heat the water than put the tea bag in the water wait a min. Than apply the teabag to the coldsore for about 20 mins or so. Do it about 6 times a day. It should be gone the next day or maybe that night if you got it when u got up. DO NOT POP IT OR APPLY ALCOHOL THAT IS THE WORSE THING YOU CAN DO. IT JUST MAKES IT WORSE ! Trust me i know i had them i tried that alcohol needle remedy didnt work and it sucks. Also try not to touch your coldsore then touch anywhere else around your mouth if so 1. wash your hands 2. wash your mouth and apply vitamin c on your lips.. Pop the vitamin c for that gooey liquid stuff. Dont apply so much though . Makes ur lips very shiny though. (: Hope this helped!

also go to walgreens or cvs and grab lysine tablets. this helps with your healing and helps them fade quicker. dont use abreva...it brings them out!!!

So!!! i woke up Tuesday morning with 4 small blisters on my lip! i must have slept thru the tingling and itching. i used abreva but it seems like it just brought it out even more on my lip. around 3 pm the blisters got bigger and were very noticeable. when i got home i burned a needle to sanitize it and bust the blisters. then i put purell hand sanitizer on paper towel and held it on for about 15 minutes. alot of pain but well worth it. tooth paste just doesnt seem to work at all. around 8 pm before i went to bed, i poked more holes in the blisters and held paper towel to them to let them drain for about 5 minutes. i then ripped a piece of small paper towel and folded it...soaked it in alcohol then put it in a bandaid. after i put the bandaid on my lip i slept on it overnight applying pressure to it. when i woke up this morning... barely NOTICEABLE!!!! this really works. it worked for me. dont do salt it will swell your lip up!!! try this...u wont regret it!!!

So, the whole ice cube and alchohal thing, all I have to do is take an icecube and put it on the cold sore until it melts, then put some alchohal on it?

How much should I do it?

I thought you were supposed to keep your cold sore DRY, so does the whole icecube trick work?

I'm hoping it'll go away by Friday, so please answer my questions soon! Thanks!

I used hydrogen peroxide and alcohol on my cold sore. Then I used an ice cube on it. This method seems to be working. It is drying up. I plan to repost tomorrow to let you guys know if the method gets rid of the cold sore in 24 hours. But the peroxide is the most powerful treatment. Its a plus with the alcohol.

I have had my cold sore day 2 now. My first cold sore was when a young child. It is really embarrassing I feel like I want to walk around with a paper bag over my face. If only I could get away with it. So my cold sores always warn me with a tingling. Mine came at 4 am in the morning. Ugh! I use Zovirax ointment on my cold sore. Only this time I didn't have any on me...had to wait to see a doctor for a prescription...its so lame you need to visit a doctor for cold sore ointment. So I'm stuck with this blister because I didn't catch it in time...usually when I feel tingling on my lip or around it. If I put the ointment on it (zovirax) I will not get a blister. As far as using toothpaste or alcohol on my cold sore it has never really helped mine heal any faster. The only thing that had worked for me is getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy, vitamin c and applying zovirax to blister.
I have a date in 2 days I hope its gone before then. I wish you all luck!
