I get cold sores several times a year and am always trying new remedies and treatments. The cold sores I get are usually raging - and then often start in one area and spread. This time, I felt the tingling coming on but was unable to really do anything at the time. I had a small white blister visible. I put ice on it - melted two ice cubes on the cold sore and then covered it with Abreva (still not totally sold on whether this actually helps speed healing or just prevents the spreading of the virus). I then tried nail polish remover (acetone therapy). I blotted with a cotton ball three times. I also took 2000mg of Lysine at one time and then 1000mg later in the evening. The cold sore never turned into a yellow blister and never spread. It was completely healed in three days. Not to say this treatment would work for everyone but it really worked for me!!
