Cold Sores: Lips – How To Treat In 3 Steps

March 9th, 2009 · 2 Comments · Articles

Cold Sore on the Lip.Ok so you’ve got a cold sore on your lip and you want to get rid of it fast, right? Ok, well lets determine a couple of things first: is it just the tingling sensation of what you’re sure is an oncoming cold sore or has it already developed yet? If it’s already developed then skip to the next paragraph, right now I’m going to tell you how to prevent a cold sore if you know one’s coming but it hasn’t shown itself yet:

Start taking Vitamin C and B-12 (and Lysine if you’ve

got it), and every two hours I want you to do the following: take a q-tip and apply Benzyl alcohol or Witch Hazel (witch hazel’s easier to get) to the spot where you can feel the cold sore coming on. This alone will oftentimes prevent

a cold sore from emerging (not always).

Now, if it’s already developed (you’ve got at least a little red bump), follow this simple 3-step process:

1. Wash the cold sore with a damp wash cloth and soap every two hours, careful to use a new wash cloth each time and throw the old one in the laundry–keep that cold sore clean and dry.

2. Ice the cold sore every time after you wash it for 10 minutes, just use an ice cube.

3. Take a q-tip and apply witch hazel (or benzyl alcohol if you can find it) to the cold sore after you’ve iced it.  So you’re doing these 3 steps once every two hours–often you’ll find that the cold sore will disappear within the next 24-48 hours when it normally would’ve taken a week or more to clear up.

Also, a little tip: after you’ve completed the 3 steps you can apply some petroleum jelly to the cold sore as this will seal in the liquids and keep them from leaking out and infecting other parts of your face and/or other people.  Also, don’t forget to wash your hands after you’re done with your little cleansing procedure here, you don’t want to give it to anyone else or spread it to any other parts of your body (you can get it in your nose AND eyes, FYI).

Something My Friend Concocted…

My best experience with home remedies is with something concocted by Grace, a close friend of mine, and I must say that this cold sore treatment has worked every single time for me (often inside of 24 hours), and even more impressive is I’ve seen it work on about 25 other people she’s tried it on, with very good consistency. She was so enthusiastic about her discovery that she has decided to turn it into an e-book, so I wouldn’t be much of a friend if I didn’t try to help her out a bit on my blog. One of the first women that we “experimented” on (she’s our close friend and was glad to give it a go), was Gretchen, who occasionally crosses the border from Wisconsin to come visit us, look at what she said:

“Grace,

I wanted to get a note to you to thank you for the information in your ebook. I must admit I was very skeptical when I read your instructions, but you were right on the money. My double bout with cold sores was gone after only 6 days. The best part of this entire program has been that to this point (3 months later), the cold sores have not returned. I can hardly believe it – thanks so much!”

Please go have a look at my friend Grace’s solution for the matter here: Cold Sore Freedom: Cold Sores Cured in 3 Days–I’ve personally tried this and it is currently my favorite method of handling my cold sores, and it’s not because it’s necessarily the fastest (I’ve found that if I drain, wash, and apply nail polish remover to a cold sore several times a day while keeping an ice cube on it the WHOLE day, about 50% of the time it’ll be gone in about 2 days, but it’s unreliable at best and you can’t do ANYTHING else that day but attend to your cold sore). It’s because it works EVERY TIME, often within the first 24 hours–3 days is more like the unlikely maximum, you’re much more likely to see it gone within 24 hours or so–and it only requires a few minutes of your time every day, so I highly recommend you give it a chance and if it doesn’t work then just get your money back, no harm no foul we’re all still friends, ok?

Hey Bryan. My son-in-law and daughter suffered with very bad cold sores on their lips (him also in his nose). A friend told me to give them Vit B12 or Vit B complex injections IM (I am a nurse). I got a prescrition from her doctor, gave them each a shot once a month for 5 months consecutively. That was 11 years ago, and my son-in-law has only had the odd cold sore since then (he literally had them almost every other month before that). My daughter had none for several years after, and now gets them again, but not as often. Hey, it’s definitely worth trying.
