Ok, we’re going to go through a quick process I use every time I start getting a cold sore or can feel an outbreak coming on, plus a couple of little tips you can try out for yourself and see if they work for you (home remedies are finicky–they consistently work great for some and not for others). If you do this process on a cold sore that’s already developed so you can see it, it will significantly shorten the healing time (often to 24 hours or less–this happens roughly 80% of the time for me and

several friends of mine who have tried it), and if you do it as soon as you get that tingling feeling a day or two before a cold sore actually emerges then it will usually prevent it from ever happening in the first place so you don’t actually get a cold sore to begin with–very nice when that happens. Here we |
go (do each of the following steps together once every 2 hours):
- Keep the affected area clean and dry by washing it with a damp washcloth and soap, being sure to use a new one each time and put the old one (which is infested with herpes now) in the laundry.
- Melt an ice cube on it for about 10 minutes at a time, this helps with the pain, irritation, and itching by numbing it plus it slows down the virus metabolism and makes it harder for the virus to fight back against your immune system.
- Start taking lysine at 1000mg 3 times per day along with Vitamin C and B-12, lysine has been proven to inhibit the herpes simplex virus while it’s active and to prevent it from becoming active when it’s dormant (cold sore sufferers like myself and my friends will often stay on a 500mg per day
lysine supplementation program at all times to help prevent outbreaks, and we’ve found it to significantly reduce the frequency of them). Vitamin C helps boost your immune system, and B-12 has been shown to reduce the duration of cold sore outbreaks in various studies.
- Apply either witch hazel or benzyl alcohol (which is kinda hard to get, others have found regular isopropyl rubbing alcohol to work as well) to the affected area with a q-tip–this sounds really simple and obvious since these are disinfectants, but we’ve found them to be surprisingly effective despite never having heard this advice from a doctor (I originally heard it from a fellow cold sore sufferer who posted the advice on an online home remedy forum, then myself and my friends tested it).
A little tip I would give you if the cold sore has already broken out and especially if it’s seeping fluid and you have children: after you’ve done the above routine immediately apply chapstick (I think Carmex is best for this) to it, as the wax in it seals in the virus to keep it from spreading to anyone else or any other part of your body (it is possible for herpes to spread from an active outbreak on your lip to your nose or even your eye and believe me you do not want that).
Something My Friend Concocted…
My best experience with home remedies is with something concocted by Grace, a close friend of mine, and I must say that this cold sore treatment has worked every single time for me (often inside of 24 hours), and even more impressive is I’ve seen it work on about 25 other people she’s tried it on, with very good consistency. She was so enthusiastic about her discovery that she has decided to turn it into an e-book, so I wouldn’t be much of a friend if I didn’t try to help her out a bit on my blog. One of the first women that we “experimented” on (she’s our close friend and was glad to give it a go), was Gretchen, who occasionally crosses the border from Wisconsin to come visit us, look at what she said:
“Grace,
I wanted to get a note to you to thank you for the information in your ebook. I must admit I was very skeptical when I read your instructions, but you were right on the money. My double bout with cold sores was gone after only 6 days. The best part of this entire program has been that to this point (3 months later), the cold sores have not returned. I can hardly believe it – thanks so much!”

Please go have a look at my friend Grace’s solution for the matter here: Cold Sore Freedom: Cold Sores Cured in 3 Days–I’ve personally tried this and it is currently my favorite method of handling my cold sores, and it’s not because it’s necessarily the fastest (I’ve found that if I drain, wash, and apply nail polish remover to a cold sore several times a day while keeping an ice cube on it the WHOLE day, about 50% of the time it’ll be gone in about 2 days, but it’s unreliable at best and you can’t do ANYTHING else that day but attend to your cold sore). It’s because it works EVERY TIME, often within the first 24 hours–3 days is more like the unlikely maximum, you’re much more likely to see it gone within 24 hours or so–and it only requires a few minutes of your time every day, so I highly recommend you give it a chance and if it doesn’t work then just get your money back, no harm no foul we’re all still friends, ok?

Where’s the E-book? The link sent me to an advertisement page. I did not see anything about an E-book.
